Spring Fashion Preview

It may be a snow day here in Central Pennsylvania but if you’re like me, you’re dreaming of spring weather-and have a Pinterest board full of clothes you hope to buy this season. Using the site Polyvore, I rounded up some of my favorite early spring looks. Keep in mind that this is just as of now and there will be plenty more as we get closer to warmer weather! After each outfit I’ll link the items below the image. Enjoy!

This first look is a casual, slightly Parisian ensemble for a day spent walking around on cobblestone streets bordering the ocean. Destinations like Historic Boston or the Portland Old Port seem fitting for an outfit like this one.

The image that Polyvore created is a little bit misleading when it says ‘Starting at $131”, however the layout is really well constructed and represents the outfit very well. The J.Crew Boatneck top is currently 10% off (original price of $45, now $40) and the Topshop Ghillies flats are 25% off ($100-->$75). The watch and bag are greater investments, coming in at $195 for the watch and $298 for the bag, but they are both items I hope to purchase sometime in the future (when I have a lot of money to spend ;). As for the Ray-Ban sunnies, you can find cheaper dupes at stores like Loft (where I just bought these in tortoise for about $15) or Banana Republic, which usually has sunglasses on sale this time of year. The jeans are by BLANKNYC and are one of my favorite pairs of ripped boyfriend jeans right now because they have just the right amount of rips in them. You can find them in stores or online, specifically at Nordstrom for $88.

The second look is essential for the spring months. For days when April showers never seem to end, it features a stylish Chelsea rain boot paired with skinny jeans and a cozy linen peplum layered underneath a beige trench.

The long-sleeved Madewell shirt is a cozier and looser version of your favorite flattering peplum top. It’s on-sale right now at about 10% off (originally $50, now $45) and comes in three different colors-a wine-y color, a grey and a light blue. Again, the Polyvore-created image to go with this look is a little misleading since the cheapest item, the J.Crew rectangular glass necklace is $40 and comes in two colors, “crystal” and “fern”. Tall Hunter rain boots were all the talk last spring, but this year their much sleeker cousin, the Chelsea style rain boot, is taking charge. This pair from Kate Spade is on the expensive side, priced at $150, but they’re one of the most “fashionable” pairs I’ve found online. Whether you like matte or classic shiny, you can find cheaper versions of this classic ankle boot online or in stores at Nordstrom and other retailers. Even though it isn’t a rain jacket, J.Crew remixed their most popular winter coat into a springtime version-the chateau trench coat, which features blue gingham lining for a pop of color on a grey day. You can find it in stores or online in beige or a bright red color dubbed “fiery sunset”. It’s priced at $198 but with constant sales, you aren’t very likely to have to pay full price if you play your cards right. The jeans featured in the photo set are by J.Crew and cost $125, but everyone has their own preference when it comes to finding the perfect fitting jean.

The third and final look I have for you today is a classic “Evening Out on the Town” kind of outfit. Black is the new….black. It features a timeless d’Orsay flat paired with a black pleated peplum tank and a girl’s favorite-pearls.

The J.Crew tank shown above is actually out of stock, but you can find a really similar style here, which comes in regular, petite and small in an array of colors. It’s normally $98 but select colors are currently marked down to $70.

On my search for the perfect pair of d’Orsay flats, I came across this pair by Shoes of Prey, which come in 31 different colors. They’re more expensive than most, coming in at $200, but what I like about this pair in particular is the ankle strap, which is helpful because it’s not uncommon for your foot to slip out of this style of flats.

You can never have too many pearls, which is why this J.Crew multi-strand necklace is perfect for wearing with a plain black tank like the one featured in this outfit. Again, it’s more on the expensive side at $100 but it’s glamorous, timeless, versatile and for me, it would be considered a great investment.

The Kate Spade cross-body bag is just big enough to fit all of your “evening out” essentials, such as your phone, some cash and your favorite lip gloss. In black with gold “chain-linked” straps, it is chic and efficient.

As spring comes around, the sun stays in the sky well into the evening hours, which is why you can never go wrong carrying a pair of sunglasses with you. A favorite style of mine, tortoise, looks good on everyone and this pair from J.Crew ($118) is part of their new line of original J.Crew sunnies.

The jeans featured above are sold out online, but again, jeans are totally by preference and it wouldn't matter what brand you wore with a look like this.

That’s all for today, but you can follow me on Pinterest and Polyvore to see my springtime style inspiration grow and grow...and grow. Seriously, I’ll have at least 200 pins by April. Also, make sure to follow me on Instagram as well as my personal Instagram and subscribe at the bottom right corner of my home page if you haven’t already!

Xoxo, Abby
